In late 2012, me and hubby got a chance to visit Amsterdam. It left a strong impression on me with its many canals and adorable red brick houses. I heard about those canal houses before and seen the picture, but I never thought I'd fall in love with it. Seeing Amsterdam first hand really made a difference, huh? Maybe it's a fact that Amsterdam was the first European city I ever set foot or the city itself is indeed beautiful, either way, I heart Amsterdam and the way it inspired me.
I bought this book "London, you're beautiful" by David Gentleman. In one of many of his beautiful sketches, I saw this particular sketch of a building in 33-35 Eastcheap, London. I was intrigued by the architectural design and decided to sketch the same building. So I searched the internet and found one reference photo, taken at the same angle as what David G. sketched. So, here's my version of 33-35 Eastcheap.
I had a meeting at client's office near Expo, so I came early and treated myself a huge breakfast at Starbucks :D Oh I needed that, alright, to prepare myself for the dreaded meeting to come haha. After breakfast, It started to rain, but luckily, only after I reached the office lobby.
Well, I was the first to arrive and that only meant another free time to sketch hehe This was done at outside lobby.
Back in office, after my meeting and umm… my first IUI (and let's hope it was successful and hence would be our last IUI). Had the whole room by myself.

I remember I ordered a cup of hot tea, a burger and fries at Mc Donald, Enoshima, just near by the station, and started to sketch.

Two paintings below are from photos, taken at Disney Sea, the second time I went there. The first time was with my fullcast friends in Summer 2007, it was a hell lot of fun. The second time was when my mom visited Japan in January 2008. We went there with my brother, just the three of us. Inside, I was so... thrilled to see a HUGE garden full of various kinds of tulips. So amazed *yeah my first time to see so many tulips, my fave flower* that I asked my brother - not really a fan of nature beauty - to take a lot of pics of me with the tulip garden until he grew impatient sheesh... If I went alone, I would love to just stare at those fabulous tulips and... just be there!

Aahh takoyaki I bought from that small store above was the yummiest takoyaki ever so far. I went to Osaka and Kyoto with my family and oh we only spent half a day in Kyoto... HALF A DAY!!! What were we thinking?? hm well, I just have to make sure the next time I go there, I'll absorb every detail of the beauty of the old city.

I forgot when it was when Benny gave us an omiyage, mochi. The mochi was put in a box with picture on the lid. I happened to be the last one who got the mochi so Inge *or was it Ellen??* gave me the mochi and the box. I love the picture on the lid, very simple, so I decided to keep the box *didn't have the heart to throw it*. I guess you might find one in omiyage stores ^^

We went to Australia in November 2010 and one place I was really looking forward to go to was a vineyard which wasn't included in our travel itinerary. But thanks to a very nice tour guide, we could visit a vineyard before our next stop, Philip island. It was drizzling a bit by the time we reach the vineyard. Light rain and vineyard… sounds romantic :p
During city tour, we visited so many heritage sites. This one was so gorgeous with a big yard full of white wild flowers.

Just a few blocks away from Machida train station, there's this homey, lovely, small Italian restaurant with warm atmosphere. I went there for dinner once in a cold season, ordered pizza and spaghetti and just adored the interior. Vintage all the way to the toilet! Its the cutest toilet to-date :) Hm funny, I remember the toilet but not the taste of the food I ordered :p

One word to describe the third session: liberating. たのしかった! Fun!
Well, the first one hour we learnt a great deal about the design theory. Like how color, value contrast and texture can enhance a painting's center of interest. After all the theory, it was time to put it into practice. We were having en plein air sketch session! Hurray!
We went out to the street and we just picked any building to sketch. That was my first time sketching in public openly. Before, whenever I sketched outside, I did it secretly, so I never enjoyed it. The first few minutes I felt a little bit embarrassed by people looking at us, but after awhile, it was easier just to ignore the passers by.
~ Two-point perspective ~
My first time attending a workshop and it met my expectation. The session was fun and it felt nice to be in a room with 8 other people sharing the same passion, drawing!
This week is all about making lines, recognizing shapes, and forms. An hour before the session ended, we were instructed to make a sketching from a black and white photo of a rustic looking house, taken at the last Malay village in Singapore.
